Residence Marco Polo – the former residence of famous Venetian explorer Marco Polo located in the town historical centre was restored in 2010. It includes apartments with a view to the famous historical square of Balbi (big square), The residence is situated near the black alleys with arcades of painters and local antiquarians.
Istria's first and only „specialized ornithological reserve' extends over „Palud' cove, located eight kilometers from the center of Rovinj towards the southwest. Over 200 bird types have been recorded in the cove and giant willow trees stand in the northern part of the swamps found within this vast forest. „Two Sisters' islets may be found within the cove and is the place where seagulls traditionally nest. In the „outstanding scenic wonders' category of the greater city area, a special place is held by the flooded karstic canyon „Limska Draga', the popular „Lim Fjord' that has been declared „a special maritime reserve'. Romuald's cave' may be found within the slopes of this fjord. Today, „Limska Draga' is one of the largest breeding sites of „seafood' in Croatia. Other cultural-historical sights of the greater city area include the mystical Dvigrad (Due Castelli), the ruins of a medieval city from the 17th century where remains from the church of „Saint Sophia' and graffiti written in the Old Slavic language may be found. Also, 'Kanfanar' in the countryside, and 'Bale', which is know for its autochthonous 'eco'-gastronomic offers.
