If you happen to be in the area, apart from Monemvasia and the castle-town, you can make short excursions to the surrounding mountainous villages in order to enjoy the magnificent view and the traditional taverns (6 – 8 km). You can also visit the picturesque harbor of Gerakas and try the fresh fish (20 km), or even Neapoli town and Elafonissos, the small island, just 10 minutes from the port of Neapolis (45 km). Besides the attractive town of Monemvasia and the unique site of the Castle, the visitor is able to make short excursions to the mountainous villages with panoramic views which are located closed to Monemvasia (6 – 8 km), to the picturesque port of Gerakas for fresh fish (20 km), or to visit Neapoli (45 km) and the small island of Elafonisos.
