Our House

Our House is located right in the city centre, surrounded by quirky little shops, bars, caf�'s and museums. Karastigur is a residential downtown side street only a few steps away from the main shopping street and the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church. This used to be our home but after the financial collapse we turned it into a guesthouse to afford the rising loan payments and to build a new house in the suburbs of Reykjavik. The new house is coming along nicely and guests from all over the world are loving our old house so it's working out for everyone

Make yourselves at home in one of our private rooms. We used to offer dorm beds as well but there have been so many hostels built around us recently that there is more demand for private rooms now. Although they are listed here as twin rooms and one single, there are extra beds and/or bunk beds in most of the rooms so just contact us if you are traveling with more people and we can probably arrange that.

Feel free to use our kitchen, two bathrooms, laundry room, rooftop patio, TV lounge, sunroom and sauna. Keep in mind that you will be sharing these facilities with our other guests (from 1-16 people) and that the house is not very big, so bring your communal spirit and prepare to make some friends.

The facilities are all included in the price (linen, towels, coffee, self-service breakfast, wi-fi internet, two laptops, access to kitchen, local phone, laundry, sauna and lots of other stuff) so all you have to do is make yourselves at home and hopefully enjoy some great company (the house is usually a magnet for shiny happy people and depressed artists alike) ;)
