Please be careful with "local illegal guides" or taxi drivers who get commission from certain hotels for bringing guests there. They will always try to confuse you and insist that they should take you somewhere else. This is because of the commission business, but Suraj Guest House doesn't give any commission to these street guys.
Therefore it is better if you call us on arrival in Varanasi, and we will come and pick you up. Or give us the information of your train/flight, with time, date etc. Then we will know when and where to pick you up. You will only pay the normal transport fee.
It has happened before that taxi drivers "help" tourists to call to us and then are told that the guest house is full. This is pure cheating, they are calling a friend who already knows what to say to you. They don't call us. So beware of this, please. Once we have your booking, you can rest assured we also have your room ready.

Advertised as "Basic double bed private ensuite" - it was certainly basic and the "ensuite" was a small shared bathroom. Not very impressed!
