St Ruth's Farmhouse

This property has no photos.
St. Ruth's - the name derives from Charles Chalmont, the Marquis de Saint-Ruth, the popular and highly esteemed French General, who was in command of the Irish Army during the Siege of Athlone in 1691. It is said that he stayed here the night before proceeding to Aughrim where he was killed in battle.

Situated approximately 8km west of Athlone - R362 from Athlone (2 hours from Dublin, 1 to 1½ hours from Galway and 2½ from Shannon). The spacious farmhouse overlooks lush meadows and rolling hills, and the 200 acre mixed dairy and sheep farm is surrounded by the Cross river - a tributary of the river
Shannon. The farmhouse itself is surrounded by natural gardens and a lazy old millstream. St. Ruth's is a classic combination of yesterday's charm with today's comforts.

St Ruth's is ideally located for a variety of activities or for pure relaxation. Comfortable en-suite accommodation, home baking and beautiful mature gardens ensure your stay is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Central heating and open turf fires from our own bogs lend tranquillity and comfort for the less energetic quest who enjoys the unhurried pace of life.
