We are a family run guest house and creative retreat in a historic building dating from 1852, set among trees, with a stream running past our front lawn. Our house is only 3 miles from the beautiful town of Westport with all its tourist amenities, and at the gateway to wild Connemara.

If you are looking for a place where you can immerse yourself in your own creative work - writing, making art, making music; or if you want to get away for a while; if you want an alternative to international hotel style, and a modern B&B doesn't fit... Properties too Spartan - Try the Old Rectory Experience!

If luxury hotel style accommodation and ensuite facilities in every room are what you need, then the Old Rectory may not be right for you. But if you dream of something a bit different: a taste of the peace of a less frenetic age, the character of a simple country house, of sitting under a willow tree by the river or exploring the secret garden, of feeling far from the madding crowd while only a 5 minute drive from the busy life of Westport, then we may be just that of which you dream.

Here at The Old Rectory we feature two large guestrooms both featuring a double and a single bed. Each of the rooms is decorated in a unique style with views over sperate gardens. Both rooms share the properties large old fashioned bathrooms. We also feature a cosy double room in the adjoining cottage.

Westport is a Heritage Town situated in beautiful countryside on the shores of Clew Bay. The town is always bustling with life but still keeps that small town feel that's so relaxing in these stressful times.

Horse riding on the beach, woods, golf, sailing, hill and mountain climbing, surfing and adventure sports are all catered for in the area.

The Leenane Road leads out into the hills and fields of Mayo and on into Connemara. Breathtaking views are the norm around here.

And of course he famed 'Croagh Padraig' is down the road beside Beartra, only one of the many beaches close by.
