Our boutique style B&B is an old country cottage located 1km from the Atlantic Ocean, 7kms from the nearest rural town of Louisburgh and 25kms from Westport Co. Mayo. Westport was recently voted by readers of the Irish Times the best place to live in Ireland.
The accomodation is adjoining the hosts' residence and comprises a cosy bedroom with en suite shower room. The accompanying sitting room, which is for guests' sole use, has a lovely stone fireplace and wood burning stove, balancing traditional charm with a modern contemporary style.
You will have your own entrance and key so you can come and go as you please and this affords a lot of independence and privacy. Tea and coffee making facilities are available together with a pullout guest bed, should there be a third guest. There is also a T.V., DVD player and radio / cd.
We have bikes for hire, which includes rain gear, a rucksack and helmets. There are some fantastic cycle routes right on the doorstep, as well as the Greenway cycle path which runs all the way from Westport to Achill Sound.
Opportunities for many activities are in abundance right on our doorstep such as hillwalking, rambling, cycling, surf and rock fishing, surfing, sea kayaking, horse riding etc. most of which we have first hand experience.
The local town of Louisburgh is host to some great pubs, cafes and restaurants, together with a supermarket, library ( with internet access ) and the Granuaile Heritage Centre.
If you'd like a packed lunch to take with you on a day out, that can be arranged. In all our cooking, our emphasis is on home cooked food. Don't expect the 'full Irish' breakfast, instead look forward to a continental style breakfast with home baked scones, pancakes, cereals and fresh fruit and yogurt. Also, when our hens are laying, fresh free range eggs!
We are a relaxed, easy going family with two young children ( 10 and 9 ) and are very flexible when it comes to organising your own specific timetable. Our aim will be your comfort!
Travelling by car from Westport, take the R335 to Louisburgh, 22km away. Continue through Louisburgh for 7km on the Silver Strand road. Venture Killeen will then be found on the right hand side.
