Il Sogno Di Alghero

Alghero is a lovely town situated in the north west of Sardinia. Thanks to its airport it is considered one of the doorways to the island. It is known too as Barceloneta ( Little Barcelona)
and as the Coral Riviera.

It has an incredibly varied natural landscape,- its seaside of fine sand, its
cliffs of smooth stones or indented rocks, deep in the blue sea that alternates with its historic enchantment -its walls, its architecture deeply influenced by the Catalano Aragonese domination. The Roman bridge of Fertilia, the Nuraghe complex of Palmavera and the necropolis of Anghelu Ruju are ones of its most appreciated monuments and archaeological sites of interest.
As concerns natural landscape we suggest you to visit the promontory of Capocaccia, dominated by
the cliff of the 'sleeping giant' which is one of the symbols of Alghero together with its precious red coral.
The area of Capocaccia , the nearby Piana Island and Porto Conte Gulf represents one of the finest places of naturalistic interest.
But Alghero is famous also for its society life - its 'movida'- and rich folklore. The city alleys are full of discos, pubs and restaurants immersed in a context of history and tradition exalted by suggestive feasts and events during the whole year.
The Carnival Week takes place in the first months of the year during which floats, Mamutones masks, musical bands and folkloric groups walk along the roads and it ends with a big fritter eating in the Civic Square. Then, do not miss the festival 'de lu Boga Mari'which is the typical gastronomic event of the sea urchin.

In Spring the picturesque Easter ceremonies take place from Holy Tuesday on to Easter Sunday and traditional processions are organized and Catalan folkloric groups exhibit.
