Staying in our B&B Il Corso in Galatina means you can choose every day and every night a different kind of holiday according to your needs: this is because our B & B is located in the historical center of the city called the 'belly' of Salento. Staying here, you can wake up in the morning, have breakfast while enjoying the typical 'pasticciotto of Galatina' or the 'African yellow' and head to the most renowned beach resorts and quaint towns: - In the direction of the Ionian Sea (only 18 km): the life of Gallipoli and Porto Cesareo with their golden beaches or cliffs of St. Catherine and the natural park of Porto Selvaggio or, in the direction of the Adriatic Sea (about 25 km), the beautiful beaches of Otranto and the beautiful deeps to explore in Porto Miggiano, Santa Cesarea Terme and Marina Novaglie. Pushing you up at the south end of the heel (about 45 km) takes you to the pristine sea of Santa Maria di Leuca, where the two seas meet; - Easy access to the bars and clubs of the renowned lively summer movida of Salento: the beach of the Baia Verde in Gallipoli which by night becomes a real disco on the sea, or dance until late at night in the most famous and lavish nightclubs of Salento located along the coast or you can opt for a walk along the 'Pub Street' in Lecce between Piazzetta Santa Chiara and Porta San Biagio. Of primary importance is the art and the culture that characterises the entire area of Salento, there are many historical towns and monuments in the area, Galatina itself to begin with: in fact, if you do not want to move, just cross Porta Luce to walk in the beautiful historic center of our Galatina, visit the basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the only example of Romanesque-Gothic style in the south of Italy, the baroque main church dedicated to the patrons St Peter and St Paul, the deconsecrated church of St Paul, where the myth of 'taranta' was born, with its numerous baronial palaces and delicious courts. Or you can visit Lecce (only 18 km), the Florence of South Italy, with the Basilica of Santa Croce (the highest expression of the Baroque style), Piazza del Duomo, Palazzo dei Celestini, Sant'Oronzo square, Piazza Mazzini. Another enchanted and magical place is the city of martyrs: Otranto with its historic center, redeveloped by the Italian architect most respected in the world, Renzo Piano, with its cathedral steeped in ancient history. Across the Gallipoli coast there is an island connected to the mainland only by a bridge called the 'Pearl of the Ionian Sea'. Other sights not to be missed are the towns of the 'Greek Salento': Soleto, Sternatia, Calimera, Corigliano with its castle reopened to the public since less than a year. Another recommended destination is Maglie (15 km), a beautiful town called 'Little London' because of its numerous shops and enriched by its elegant historic center and the Dolmens and menhirs scattered in its countryside. Salento is this and much more: live and enjoy every evening the deepest traditions of our land and gastronomy: the 'Notte della Taranta', a traveling festival of Salento folk music called 'Pizzica', the religious feasts and festivals dedicated to local products: watermelon, wine 'Negramaro', swordfish, homemade bread, olives and olive oil, 'Municeddhre' snails and many more. All these events take place in Galatina and in the neighbouring countries.
