San Simian Lodge

Spend the night in one of our five rustic bungalows in a tropical dry forest garden right on the shores of the deep blue Laguna de Apoyo. Awake to the songs of local birds, the whisper of the forest or the cry of a howling monkey. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our Lodge restaurant. Or you may prefer to wait till lunch or dinner to sample our excellent cuisine. Our kitchen is well known for its delicious, traditional meals prepared with regionally grown produce and exotic local fruits. By the way, vegetarians need not go hungry!

Relax in a hammock near the beach with a refreshing drink from the bar. Recuperate from the stress you left behind with the daily paper or a book from our in-house library. This is small but well stocked with a variety of German, English and Spanish literature.

We are ready to assist you with lunch packets, transportation and useful tips as required. A tour guide in Spanish, German, or English for one day trip can be arranged. Such guides are a wealth of information on the culture and history of Nicaragua. For real Spanish immersion, lessons at your personal proficiency level could also be organized.

Want some action? How about a hike in the National Park or simply explore the amazing flora and fauna right around the Lodge. Water sports are right at hand: sparkling clean, pleasantly warm water invites you for a swim or a scuba dive reveals the splendors of the underwater world. Also at your disposal are kayaks, a row boat and a catamaran. Ready for some culture? Granada or Masaya are just a short drive away. The Lodge is only a half hour’s drive from Granada and 20 minutes from Masaya. If you don’t have your own car, we would be happy to pick you up there or at the airport in Managua (about one hour’s drive).
