Directions: Information on Boat and Ferry crossing San Jorge Port town near Rivas - boats/ferries to Ometepe start running at 7:30am and the last ferry is at 5:30pm - 1 hour crossing time. On Ometepe Island there are 2 port towns = the main port is Moyogalpa - public buses and taxi vans meet all the boats. Taxi vans can be shared with other travelers in the same direction (Cost is US$25/30 to Santa Cruz 40/50minutes). The 2nd port is San Jose del Sur - a much smaller town but boats are also met by buses and taxis at the port (usually a bit cheaper as it is closer to Santa Cruz. Roads to Santa Cruz are paved.
