Surdesti village in Maramures is most famous for its old (1721) World Heritage church, known to be the highest wooden construction in Europe (72 m tall).

Situated just a stone's throw away from this historical monument, Amethyst Guesthouse, knows exactly how best to indulge your senses: 18 places of accommodation in a rustic, neat, wooden décor, fruits from the orchard behind the house, vegetables from the garden in front, traditional meals, a restful terrace, beautiful scenery.

The guesthouse has 3 daisies (Romanian classification for guesthouses).

The guesthouse owner would be happy to drive you around to the most interesting sights in the area, anytime you wish. There is another World Heritage monument near Surdesti: the wooden church of Plopis (1798). Also, the ski lovers would love to know that the ski slopes of Cavnic, Mogosa, and Suior are all less than 20 km away from Amethyst guesthouse.

One special bonus which the guests can enjoy is a beautiful mine flowers collection displayed in the host's living room, where among many mine jewels, you can admire the amethyst, crystal that shares the name with the guesthouse.
